Okay, I hate photobucket but whatever, This is my current cosplay project. Anubis from Ronin Warriors ( yes, anubis, the person they call anubis in the translation is not anubis, and it makes no sense to call him that because it was another character's name, who wears the armor of the jackal, hence, anubis. )
The
Red areas are things that I haven't constructed yet.
The
Orange areas are the ones that I am planning out ( in truth I'm planning everything, but these are the next things in my construction plans )
The
Yellow things are the ones I have in skeletal stage, what this means is the form is 100% done. They just need to be fiberglassed and painted. They may need some touch ups but they're basically half done.
The rare
Green items are the things that have already been fiberglassed or are in the fiberglassing stage. They're not done yet, but after a few more coatings, some putty and paint it'll basically be done.
The
Blue items ( yeah, there are none. ) are the things that are just barely incomplete. Such as they're puttied but not painted, or they're painted but the paint isn't protected yet.
If it's
purple it's done. nothing's purple.
My sword: ( the only green thing ) was actually made last year but my armor was tragically crap. I didn't work all last winter so I was rushed in the summer time. I rushed it too much and it came out bad.
Lesson learned?: it's better to work slow and work long then waste expensive materials on something ugly.
Lesson 2: cheap spray glue is crap.
Lesson 3: in almost record breaking heat, glue melts, most things melt.
Lesson 4: fiberglass and marker DO NOT MIX. OH MY GOD. I made a progressive knife from eva and used some marker to flesh out the details. well, when I fiberglassed it, instead of dring, it turned into some nasty liquid.
Lesson 5: Heatguns on thin objects = don't do it. It's better not to waste time trying to use a heatgun on small items if they're made from a foam base. The foam will expand on the inside as it heats and will completely destroy the shape of the object. Yeah, this was the prog knife.
Lesson I learned several Years ago: fiberglass and paint don't mix kids, remember it. Trying to paint fiberglass with spraypaint will make you cry as your beautiful gold metalic paint turns green as it drips down.
Another lesson I learned last year: Dremmeling an entire Staff ( ancient's staff from Ronin Warriors ) will destroy a dremmel bit.
The underarmor I'll be wearing is actuall Underarmor. yeah, it's convenient that the substance us ronin fans have been calling under armor for years actually has been made into a real product. It's basically Tights like you might see in power rangers. So picture me wearing red ranger tights for that. Except more form fitting, actually.
The helmet I'll be wearing is based off of a bicicle helmet and built upwards.
The Cape: will be your standard cloth on cloth cape, but the way I attatch it will be special. I don't want to permanently seal it to my torso armor because it'll be impossible to clean or replace that way, so i'm making a thin back-plate that will hook onto my torso armor. the cape will go inbetween those two. Which is great, actually, because on the back view you can see there's a piece of armor on the back that comes over the cape.
The Shoes: I coincidentally have a pair of shoes that have recently worn out. ( my pinky toes can see sunlight. ) So I'll patch them up and use them as a base for the armor boots. If I get lucky I'll manage to make some shoe covers that I can simple slip ontop of other shoes. This is what I'm going to try to do, but I don't mind letting my old shoes become sacrifices for the greater good.
Any questions? Comments?
