So, I bought and read the book in Ireland. In almost exactly 24-hours after the midnight release I read it, I must add, which is pretty good for me cause it usually takes me a week to slog through an HP book.
Anyway, the book and the ending were real page turners and were good, but like most HP books I read them really feverently but by then end I'm kinda... meh? I did like the ending and thought it wrapped up nicely (though I am one for happy sugary endings a la the epilogue), but everything that happened, especially in regards to snape, was pretty much exactly what I was expecting. So my feelings there were a mix beingtween "hah! I figured it out right!" and "oh... well... there you go, no surprise there..." I was however, really pissed at the deaths of Lupin and Tonks. Not because they were my favorite characters or anything, my favorite characters actually all survived , but because you knew it from the moment Lupin made Harry godfather of teddy and he and probably Tonks was gonna die. That level of crystal clear foreshadowing kind of made me mad, I remember thinking to myself "man, if she kills them off now I will be totally pissed" cause thats just... not subtle writing. I know a lot of people were upset about Fred's death, and I liked the twins too, but I found his more acceptable because it sort of expands upon the horrors of war random dying thing that JK has going on in a lot of the books, and I respected that non coddling of characters and making them quite vunerable to what should be and was a very scary time.
So, in the end, pretty hot stuff. I'm definatly not the biggest HP fan in the world but I'm kind of glad its over, just because now I know everyhting and can digest it and stuff
