Hello, my name is Akrahun.
Actually, as I'm sure you know, my name is NOT Akrahun, however for my current purposes, it might as well be. Anyway, I've been reading Broken Glass for a while, and I've been talking to Miss Heather Snyder (our dear and beloved host) for almost as long as I've been reading the comic.
So, anyway, she encouraged me to join when I was talking to her today, and being the sucker I am I decided to go ahead and try to make her happy by taking her up on it. I don't know how active I'll be, because there has only ever been one forum I stayed interested in for a long amount of time, and I don't even visit it anymore. HOWEVER, I can guarantee a few things.
#1: Intelligent posts: I will NOT post just to say "LOL U r @|\| @|3z0|_u73 1D107 1f u 7|-|1|\||< 7|-|@7" or anything else to that nature. I may not agree with some posts, but assuming I don't just keep my peace I will try to give a logical argument. The only real problem you may see is occasional spelling errors because I am not the best at spelling, but other than that I can pretty much promise that whether praising, insulting, or just commenting I will attempt to do it in a cultured manner. (By the way, that little bit of 1337 took me around 15 minutes to write out, so you can be SURE I will not be doing that again).
#2: I will try my best to be friendly. If you don't act like a jerk to me then I will do my best to not act like one to you. If, however, you do try to rile me up then I will simply ignore you.
#3: If I make or post in a thread, I WILL look for any feedback on said thread for a reasonable amount of time. I don't just post and leave (unless something outside of my control comes up).
#4: I will ignore 1337 which is used in a serious manner. If you're joking or making a point then go ahead, but if you are actually using it because you think it is cool while you are interacting with me, you can bet that you will be utterly ignored. I don't tolerate 1337.
Okay, now that I've made myself seem like a crotchety old man, here's about myself. I'm a 20 year old guy who likes anime, video games, books, and movies, and has just gotten into mainstream comics and manga. As for web comics, at one point I actually read upward of 200, but my computer was in the shop for several months, and afterward I just never got around to catching up on most of them. However, there are still a few that I DO read, and Broken Glass is one of them.
When it comes to preferences in entertainment media I prefer tragedy to comedy, and generally follow the rule "the sadder the better." The one major exception to this rule is Terry Pratchett's work of genius known as the Discworld series, which is a must read for anyone who likes fantasy books. As for music, I'll listen to just about anything but Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, and Country, with my listening material sometimes involving such mixtures as Electronica/Happyhardcore preceding traditional opera arias that are in turn followed by Death metal. That's just an example, and believe me, it only gets weirder.
So now that I've rambled on for a good who knows how long, I'll just simply say "Hi!" and go on to write the post that I really signed up to write. Hopefully you'll be able to see it in the general discussion of the Broken Glass comic in less than an hour....
PS
If anyone is wondering about the topic title, it comes from a little preview of a feature length making of documentary for star wars that I saw on a VHS when I was young (the preview that is, I never was a big enough nerd to watch the actual documentary). They have one of the little alien puppets from Jabba's Palace say it randomly, and for some reason it's always stuck in my mind.
